Gloucester Writers Center Fish Tales

August 19, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Mark your calendars! Details to be posted soon. About Fish Tales . . .
It was just an idea. An adaptation of an idea to be exact. A local storytelling program at the Gloucester Writers Center (GWC) – because at heart every writer is a storyteller. In fact, we are all storytellers. Each day we tell stories about where we’ve been, what we’ve seen, and who we’ve talked to – all with additional color and flare, seriousness and humor, love and affection. It was Timba Bell who hosted the first MOTH-like program at GWC. And the first Fish Tales was held in January 2013, theme: Hook, Line and Sinker. I think about 6-7 people showed up.

Over the last three years, Fish Tales has grown from a cozy storytelling evening at the GWC to a happening weekend evening night event every five to six weeks with an audience of 80-100 people at shows in different places in the community. We have a fan base. People tell us that Fish Tales is their favorite event in Gloucester because it showcases real people, telling true stories from the heart. Our storytellers are vulnerable, ready to share, funny and honest, and our enthusiastic audience reminds us that it is a joy and privilege to sit and listen to someone else’s life for a while. At our last Fish Tales a collaboration with the Gloucester Stage Company over 200 came to listen. www.gloucesterwriters.org
