Ellen Hurley

Ellen Hurley began her pursuit as an artist mid-life. Always appreciative of fine art, she has collected art for many years before deciding to actively pursue her own artistic expression through representational drawing and painting.

Hurley has studied drawing, watercolor and oil painting. Oil is her primary medium; she appreciates its lushness and the ability to produce both dynamic and subtle effects with it. She strives to produce a representational expression of beauty by presenting her interpretation of landscapes and still life with flowers, fruit and antique pieces of brass, copper, silver, pewter and porcelain that have histories of their own. Working from life, particularly in still life, she finds inspiration in the vibrancy of color and movement in live objects and the memories and stillness of forgotten objects.

Ellen’s still life and landscape paintings are in private collections across the United States. Her work has been juried into national and regional exhibitions.
