Karyl Hayes
Growing up on the Maine coast cultivated a love of the inter-relatedness of the sea, sky and land, a focus which has influenced the direction for much of Karyl Hayes’ painting. “My strong preference is to paint on location in the out-of-doors, despite the challenges brought on by wind, sun, rain and the ever-changing light. It is under these conditions that I sometimes lose myself in time and space, while working out the “putting together” of a watercolor painting. Karyl Hayes, a member of North Shore Art Association and a Saltbox Gallery member for 31 years, exhibits widely on the North Shore and has annually taught watercolor to Road Scholar participants on the Isles of Shoals.
