Marion L. Rayner
My interest in drawing and painting started at a very early age. As a teenager, I took a correspondence course from the Art Institute of Minneapolis and from then on I was hooked. Always comfortable with pen and ink, I discovered oils in ’73 but resisted watercolors because they seemed so difficult and uncontrolling. It wasn’t until ’92 when I took a course in watercolor that I discovered I loved its unpredictability. Since that time, I have entered and won awards in numerous shows and exhibits.
Fascinated by the landscapes and seascapes of Rockport and Gloucester, I frequently attended workshops in the area. I thoroughly enjoy painting en plein air always hoping to capture the mood and essence of the day.
I taught elementary art for eleven years and have since retired. I am now able to pursue my painting full-time.
In addition to painting, I give private lessons, small group lessons, and plain aire workshops.
