Maureen McAndrew
Maureen McAndrew is a lifelong resident of New England. She is a representational artist whose medium of choice is acrylic. Seascapes, landscapes and still-life are her primary subjects and works primarily in the realistic tradition.
She is a retired Registered Nurse. Her education includes Northern Essex Community College (AS), University of Lowell (BSN) and New Hampshire College (MBA).
In her retirement, after a long career in healthcare, she has been able to dedicate more serious time to her art. Maureen is a self-taught artist. Most recently her main focus has been in realism, always trying to capture what she sees, photographs and then proceeds to capture in her paintings.
The realism is important in her work. With her seascapes and landscapes, she wants the viewer to be able to feel they are in it, near it, or picture themselves as a part of it, as she felt when she saw it. She is hopeful that her still life paintings make the viewer feel that they could actually touch the items in the paintings.
Maureen is a member of the Newburyport Art Association in Newburyport, MA and is a Juried Artist Member at the North Shore Arts Association in Gloucester, MA.
