Munir Kapasi
Munir Kapasi’s paintings are meditations on light, memory, and place. He seeks to capture not just what is seen, but what is felt—the quiet poetry that lingers between presence and absence. His paintings are the result of this pursuit. He acknowledges that it has taken years of practice and training to come close to expressing what he envisions. It is a lifelong journey, and one he thoroughly enjoys.
At a young age, Munir was fortunate to receive lessons from an art teacher who had won numerous national awards. After entering medical school, he was unable to pursue much art until he emigrated to the United States. There, he immersed himself in reading art books in public libraries and frequently visiting art museums. He learned fundamental skills from these resources as well as from several workshops with master artists in the U.S.
Munir hopes that when someone stands before one of his works, they feel invited to slow down, reflect, and sense echoes of their own memories.
