Pat Coppola

At an early age I was interested in color. I never had a favorite color but you could say I lean toward the many greens that nature gives us. I’m interested in the palettes of different landscapes. Especially those I see when traveling. I love the southwest’s warm colors, New England’s cool and the different water’s blues.

I attended Massachusetts College of Art and received a BFA in Communication Design and went on to illustrate and design for newspapers and magazines in the Boston area and was the Art Director for Sky & Telescope Magazine, a world recognized astronomy magazine, up until I retired. That final year gave me the opportunity to redesign the magazine before leaving the print design world I love and fulfilling a career dream.

I had always wanted to put more time into painting and in retirement I found that opportunity. I enjoy oils and acrylics and paint animals, flowers, still life and landscapes. All things nature, particularly trees call me to paint and draw. I love driving along and coming upon that next inspiration where I see a color palette I need to capture. That’s when I say “Stop the car”!
