Robert Bliss
Robert Bliss is a self-taught sculptor and had many inspirational conversations with Walker Hancock, a local well-known sculptor. He is an artist member of Rockport Art Association and Museum, North Shore Arts Association, and Marblehead Arts Association. He has won awards for “Mug Up”, his Bearskin Neck Bear, a bronze Great Blue Heron, and “Nintendo”. “His use of a very traditional material to express a most contemporary activity is a wonderful touch”, Elizabeth Clark of North Shore Magazine said of his high-action skateboarder.
Robert believes in “giving back” by donating art to charities such as: “Dun Fudgin’” to the 2021 Seaside Sustainability auction, a relief of a World War II Tuskegee Airman fighter pilot to Tuskegee University, a bronze gorilla portrait at the Franklin Park Zoo, “Going Aloft”, a fisherman climbing the rigging at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; and Gloucester Harbor crabs and mussels on a piling to Maritime Gloucester.
