Art is Community. It’s the glue that brings people together in celebration, appreciation and education. Art is meant to be seen and enjoyed by spectators and artists alike – but above all that, art needs a home. A place to be displayed, recognized and shared.

For the last 103 years, the North Shore Arts Association (NSAA) has been that home. Since 1922, the Big Red Building overlooking Gloucester Harbor has welcomed thousands of Artist Members and visitors from the North Shore and beyond. From the beginning, greats like Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper and Frederick Mulhaupt journeyed to Cape Ann, building our legacy as a premier association for artists. Our workshops, exhibitions and community events uphold that legacy by offering opportunities for artistic expression and mentorship. None of our continued success would be possible without help from our members, our volunteers, our friends and you.

The North Shore Arts Association is supported by generous contributions from our patrons. We have always been free for visitors and look forward to continuing our programs and activities for all. We rely on your help to open our doors year after year as a dedicated community space and home for New England Artists.
